Coach Cortney

Hi there! I’m Cortney. I am a lover of all things running, recovery and wellness! As a coach, I want to share my own experience as an avid runner and triathlete, along with my education in exercise science and physical therapy, to help other athletes achieve their goals. With over 9 years of experience as a Board-Certified Sports Physical Therapist and Strength and Conditioning Specialist, I have worked with hundreds of athletes of all abilities get back to doing what they love. I have seen that our bodies are capable of so much more than we often can imagine. With the right support, I know that no goal is too big for any of my athletes!

When I first entered the endurance sport world as a complete novice, I thought that I was going to be “one and done” just to prove to myself that I could do something that seemed impossible. But since 2018 I have competed in countless Ironman and Ironman 70.3 triathlons, including the Ironman 70.3 World Championship in St. George and the Ironman World Championship in Kona. I have also competed in multiple marathons, qualified for Boston, and taken on 50k & 100k trail races. And while I love the sense of satisfaction that I get from pushing my limits, what I really fell in love with are the running and triathlon communities! If you are on this page, then you are my people!

My Coaching Philosophy

Every athlete’s needs and goals are unique, so that requires an individualized approach to training and recovery. I work with you to create a plan that is realistic and sustainable for you and your life. Consistency is key to achieving big goals, so my primary aim is keeping my athletes healthy so that they can perform day after day and week after week without interruption. This means we work together not only on the training plan, but on ALL aspects of training and recovery. Sleep. Nutrition. Stress Management. Without prioritizing all of the fundamentals, then your training and race day goals will suffer. BIG TIME. If you are an athlete whose training block seems to always be disrupted by injuries, then it is imperative that you have a coach with extensive knowledge on injury risk and recovery. Or when life gets in the way (which it will inevitably at some point) then having a coach that can make effective adjustments to your plan can keep you on track . So, whether you are just beginning your running journey, coming back from an injury, or chasing that next PR, I would love to help you achieve your goals!
